    Hello CCODN members and visitors alike!

    I have had the pleasure of serving as President of CCODN for just over six months now.  In my new role I've been awakened to the depth of expertise and passion for the OD field that we have right here in the Columbus community.

    What are YOU passionate about?  What topic, method, tool, or practice inspires you the most?  When do you find yourself "in the zone"?

    We had a fantastic time mixing and mingling with the Central Ohio ASTD and Central Ohio Coaches at our joint monthly meeting on August 18, 2011. A special thanks goes out to CCODN and COASTD member, Andy Aichele, for hosting us at COSI and serving up very tasty appetizers and a great happy hour!

    We also explored the methodology of Open Space - and the topic of our collective roles in building and shaping organizational culture - as colleagues in the fields of training, organization development, performance improvement, and coaching.     Our July meeting was an experience in the World Cafe process where we engaged in a deep dialogue about the future of CCODN and the potential we have to become a better organization. Many thanks to our knowledgeable and skillful dialogue lead hosts from The Ohio State University: Hazel Morrow-Jones, Associate Provost for Women's Policy Initiatives and Tom Gregoire, Dean of the College of Social Work for their hard work and preparation. The success of this program was greatly due to the efforts of their hosting team. We have assembled the "harvest" from our discussion - click here to read more about the discussions we had.     The CCODN board is pleased to announce the appointment of Curt Walker Ph.D. as VP Membership for CCODN. Curt is filling the remainder of the term formerly held by Kimberly Shepherd, who has resigned due to changes in circumstances that would not allow her continue her volunteer duties. CCODN is grateful to Kimberly for her service during a time of steady growth in our membership and membership involvement.

     

    Curt takes over at a time when we plan to ramp up our membership and member involvement significantly. Watch this blog for information on upcoming membership recruitment, retention and involvement activities. Curt comes to us fresh from successful completion of the Industrial and Organizational Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Connecticut. His doctoral dissertation

    examined the Climate for Engagement and the Role of Leadership in Fostering Performance Behavior. We hope to convince Curt to share his findings during an upcoming CCODN meeting. In the meantime, please join me in welcoming Curt and thanking him for stepping up into this important position.

    As VP of Marketing for CCODN I have been interviewing some of our community's top OD professionals to get their take on the CCODN brand and what they feel separates our profession from similar related professions such as HR and coaching. Here are some emerging themes. We would love to hear your perspective too. When you think of a great OD professional, what comes to mind?

    We are thrilled to launch our new, interactive web site and membership system. We are confident this new technology platform will help us serve you better.

    Our VP of Communications Yi-Ruei Chen has dedicated many hours over the last month or so in creating this new site and helping us migrate our membership information into the new system. Many thanks for the hard work and focus that made this possible Yi-Ruei!
