Business results happen when organizations are agile enough to "dance with change" in their marketplaces. The changes, however, are discontinuous: non-incremental, sudden and unplanned--the very opposite of what most learning programs can effect. In order to get business results in today’s markets, workers and organizations must step up their game--to “be” and “do” differently than what traditional “learning methods” reinforce. Learning Professionals who lead the race for results are challenged to create learning cultures that foster 21st century success.

In this special event, hosted jointly with ASTD, HRACO and ICF, Janine Moon of Workforce Change will present how “training” is out of alignment with today’s business needs and will focus on discontinuous learning and agility as the growth approach needed for today’s business challenges.

This event is on Tuesday, in lieu of our regular meeting day.

Registration begins: 4:30p
Speaker: 5 – 6p
Networking, appetizers and cash bar:  6 – 7p

This hour-long session guides participants to:
  1. Examine belief systems around growth and learning and choose to align those beliefs as appropriate.
  2. Define their own passion around challenging their organization’s learning paradigm and stepping into “Rebel” behaviors.
  3. Explore Rebel behaviors that move an organization and its employees toward growth through discontinuous learning methods and opportunities and employee-centric leader behaviors.
  4. Determine how, when and with what support they can influence their organization via select Rebel behaviors.

Participant takeaways:

  1. A checklist or assessment to examine one’s own beliefs and values around Learning & Growth within their organization’s culture.
  2. Identified outcomes that result from a move from training (misaligned with workplace needs) to development (aligned with needs).
  3. Identified behaviors that can move Learning to the #1 organization value and ways to “walk” that “talk”.
  4. Peer discussions on measuring and implementing the Learning value into daily conversations and weekly, monthly, and annual performance reviews.
  5. Recognition of the significance of coaching skills in an organization and developing a case for its inclusion in strategy.
