Why Organization Change Plans Fail- The Missing Element

Essentially all organization change plans include a detailed task list of what must be accomplished to make the change. Most organization change plans also include a communications plan. These plans arrange from the proverbial “back of a napkin” to detailed methods of communications. However, too few organization change plans include a necessary third component: the stakeholder commitment plan. The purpose of this component is to gain the commitment of the major change stakeholders so that each will do their part of the work of change and will incorporate the changes into everyday work once the change is complete.
